Also try adding some volume to lips, its something that gives a lot of life to 3d cartoon characters,

This was a work in progress deal thing, which I later gave up on. I'd think though that puffy lips would detrail from the original character design and make it look a little odd.

It is extremely hard for me to get smoke to look right, but in general mixing medias doesn't turn out well for vector-based images ;)

I like how you do introduce at least ONE light source in all your last compositions, they give a lot to play with shades on your recently created main characters. I should lern about that.
